Here’s some nature details from living on the road. 2 years ago, I packed my life into a truck to hit the road for a year. Driving 100,000 miles, flying on dozens of planes, sleeping in 44 different states, 3 countries, in a rooftop tent, truck bed, front seats, hammocks, airbnb's & sketchy hotels, it was sweet. <3

New York City
Spend autumn in New York, check.

NYC Evening
We spent a good 5 days & nights in this city. Most of the evenings were enjoyed by walking across bridges & ordering too many pizza-by-the-slices. Also, having a car & a dog with us in NYC was much easier than we anticipated.

Autumn in the State of New York
We spent over a week driving all around the state of New York before heading to the city. It was wet, cold & awesome. We heard from many locals on how lucky we were for the “warm” weather. We are pretty happy that it wasn’t as cold as it had been the year prior. We’ve never seen so many autumn trees and waves of color. From the Great Lakes, to the Finger lakes, to Hudson River, we were pretty hyped on all the unexpected things New York State has. One of our favorite spots was the Taugannock State park & the trail down to the falls.

Silver Island Mountains
I think I say this almost everytime, but our favorite days end up being the most spontaneous at places we never planned to stop. This little hidden place was filled with fun dirt roads that we spent a day getting lost on. We wandered around, ate dinner, and almost sat around a fire. As we were starting the fire, we decided it was getting too cold and we climbed our way to bed to work on the laptop (well I edited, while Isaiah rested). We watched the sun set, and then the sun rise without hardly moving. The gusts of wind through the night had kept us up, but it was so worth it.

Skate Break, Utah
California —> Nevada —> Utah, 3 states & 12 hours later. Our butts were sore from the long drive, so stretching sounded nice. Somewhere off of the 80 while heading east, Isaiah spotted a little truck stop. A few minutes of skating & shooting refreshed us to hit the road again.

Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah
Easy day on the Salt Flats. This was one of our favorite days, Isaiah was just pulling up to Bonneville, as I watched the sun rise in the distance through the window. We enjoyed the brisk air while we made coffee & breakfast, and Cedar thoroughly enjoyed running as far & fast as his heart desired. We’re amazed by the textures and soft tones of this place.

Mt. Hood, Oregon
We always see Mt. Hood peeking up in the distance, well this day we got to spot some time right next to it!

Smith Rock, Oregon
Spent a morning at Smith Rock, and we realized it deserves longer than just 1 morning.

Misty Morning Camping, Washington
Foggy, cold & raining: our favorite type of day. So we enjoyed it by taking the day easy, walking around the water & finding a nice place to settle in early.

Santiam Wilderness, Oregon
We've been officially living on the road for a week. To be honest, it doesn't feel any different than our usual "road trips" we always do. It had rained a lot here the day before, so having the sun greet us as sunrise was especially nice. Here's what a typical morning looks like to us. We enjoy being warmed up up the sun peaking through the trees while making coffee.

Tuolomne Meadows, Yosemite
We've gone to Yosemite together every year these past 6 years, and this was our first time that we finally were able to go up the "back way"! (up the 120). It is definitely worth going that route, just make sure it's open since they close down that route multiple times a year due to weather!

Joshua Tree, California
Joshua Tree was the first place we went camping together 5 years ago, being only 2 hours from us in LA, it was always perfect for last minute camping trips, or even just a day trip. It's a jungle gym made of rocks, and we're happy to run around it for days.
This trip that we took here was a little different than others.. We left pretty late in the evening to drive home, and once we arrived, we noticed that our camera bag was missing. The only conclusion was that we left it in the middle of the desert. So we jumped back in the car to make the trek back. Staying positive, we just sang & made up songs the whole way. When we arrived at 3am, it was dark & cloudy, everything looked the same. We waited a few hours until sunrise (which was awesome..too bad we didn't have a camera to photograph it..), and the search began. We ended up finding it not too far off the road, hooray!

Foggy Trail, Oregon
Getting lost in the fog is the best.

Chicago, IL
It was our first time in this windy city, and we didn't feel any breeze. We enjoyed our time by walking around neighborhoods & eating pizza.

Driving through Iowa
We usually cover many miles in one day, and the best advice we've gotten was to just enjoy it. Seriously, stop every time you have the urge. So, we saw this cool road while just passing through Iowa & that's what we did. It was a relaxing day with no expectations, and those always seem to be the best.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Utah
Another early morning. Our favorite part of traveling together is that we always leave room for spontaneity. We usually have a destination in mind, but we plan enough to ensure we have plenty of time to get lost on the way there. That's how we ended up here, the Coral Pink Sand Dunes in South Utah. Within minutes of walking through this sand, our toes had frozen!

Oregon Coast
We spent a few days exploring the coast of Oregon.
